About this property

Welcome to Eagle's Nest Lodge

Located just off Highway 18 and a 22-minute walk from Big Bear Lake, Eagle's Nest Lodge offers a cozy, rustic experience in an Old West-style setting. The property features vintage log cottages and shared spaces, providing guests with a charming mountain retreat that reflects its historical character dating back to 1925. Its lodge-style ambiance is complemented by amenities such as fireplaces, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary snacks, though it does not have a restaurant or pool onsite.

The lodge caters well to visitors seeking a quiet, no-frills stay with practical conveniences like air conditioning, free parking, and pet- and kid-friendly accommodations. The rooms vary in style and size, with some including thoughtful additions like Jacuzzi tubs, mini-fridges, and fireplaces. While clean linens and towels are consistently noted as positive, some guests have observed that the property maintains a rustic and somewhat dated charm rather than modern luxury, which suits those looking for character over upscale finishes.

Guest feedback highlights friendly, accommodating management and a welcoming atmosphere, although some have mentioned noise from other guests and minor language barriers with staff during check-in. The shared living areas with vintage décor add to the unique appeal, but guests seeking complete privacy or resort-level amenities may find the setting less suited to their needs. The lodge is smoke-free and situated in a tranquil, wooded area, with close proximity to popular outdoor activities like skiing at Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, as well as the Big Bear Alpine Zoo.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights for a quick snowboard trip. We had to cancel our initial reservation because it was during an unusual heavy snow fall and all public roads, access to the mountain was closed for over a week. Kim was beyond accommodating and his prompt communication truly made me feel at ease with the entire process. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a very nice, friendly Chinese lady who communicated via translator. She was so sweet and accommodating. The large cabin is a true vintage building filled with charm and intriguing “artifacts”. We spent an evening in the shared, main living area listening to oldies on a cassette player. Amazing. Although the house was a shared space we did not feel any lack of privacy. Our bedroom was also filled with mountain charm decor. Loved it. The room was cozy yet we had ample space to dry our snowboarding gear by the electric fireplace. Very convenient. The closet, mini fridge, and other amenities were added bonus. Most importantly we felt the room was clean. Although the fixtures and house itself is very rustic we appreciated having very clean linens, towels, and bathroom. It made for a very comfortable stay. The property is an older one and likely very historic. Staying in an actual log cabin is quite special. Having expectations of a modern resort is unrealistic. We frequent Big Bear and in future the Eagles Nest will be our first choice in accommodations.

We stayed in a queen room with a Jacuzzi Tub, the place is nice, has a mini fridge, tv, heat, ceiling fan, & fireplace. Place was great, a bit difficult to find front drive from the street. Our only gripe was that even though quite hours are from 10pm-8am other guests do not care, and were incredibly inconsiderate and noisy. Smoked cigars or cigarettes right outside our windows till midnight and talked loudly.

The owner is very accommodating and helpful. She gave great care and I definitely will be coming back soon. The queen studio is the most romantic place to stay on a low budget. I absolutely loved every minute there.

We recently stayed at the EAGLES NEST bed-and-breakfast hotel in big bear. This was during the weekend the mountains were under a blizzard warning. When we pulled up, we loved love the look of the cabins. Our cabin, very cool. It had a nice kitchen, a fireplace, a big screen, TV, and a wall heater that warm the place up quickly. The bed in this particular cabin was firm, just the way we like it. The location of this property was perfect! Literally minutes from the restaurants, grocery store, and snow summit. The property is filled with trees and looked beautiful in the snow. The customer service was great. Management and ownership were very nice and accommodating. We stayed three nights. It was a great little getaway. Thank you David and Kim. - D. Wilson (Torrance Calif) 3/1/23

We had the deluxe queen room located in the main house. Each room had a name. Ours was Butch and Sundance. The room had all the amenities you need such as smart tv, heated gas fireplace, shampoo/conditioner and body wash. The room does face the street so if you are a light sleeper, they do provide ear plugs. Water pressure was strong, did take a moment to get hot water. The room is old but clean. It does have its charm. Checking in was easy as we were provided with a map and code to the main house and your keybox. The only complaint we had was the mattress it was a bit creaky and janky. Location was great not too far from the village. Prior to booking we were hesitant due to the negative reviews. As a precaution after booking I called to confirm our booking. Once that was confirmed we were good to go. When we arrived, the Chinese lady came to us as we were trying to find our room. Even though she didn’t speak English she showed the bookings on her phone to see if you can recognize your name. Once I spot it, she navigated us to the room. I spoke some mandarin so that helped. The main house has a shared space of a living room, they have a fridge and microwave there as well. They are new management so no more breakfast unfortunately. They do offer snacks like Larabars, granola bars and gummies. A tip for the entrance is small and it’s right after the Valley Professional Center.

This is a rustic b&b cabin type place, it is not a 5 star resort. For the price this place is exactly what you would expect. Check in was a little weird but very easy. They lady who works there doesn't speak any english so she just shows you the list of people staying there (little sketchy) & you point out your name then she walks you to your room or cabin and gives you the key. Check out was similar, you just tell her you are leaving & put the key in the lock box. We never had to sign anything or do any formal check in/out process. We stayed in the queen suite #6. It was a very cute rustic vibe room. Again, not a 5 star resort. But we would definitely stay here again. The hot tub was the main selling point for us. It was so romantic! The fire place wasn't great though. We light fires at home all the time with no issue but could not get the fire to light. Could be user error, wood issues, or the chimney may be clogged. You will need to bring your own firewood, starter, & lighter or matches. I definitely recommend staying here, everything was clean & we had no issues. Just remember it is not a 5 star resort, it is a rustic cabin in the woods.

Very quaint and rustic bed and breakfast. Built in 1925. So if you're expecting The Ritz Carlton, this isn't for you. The hosts are amazing. I've stayed with them a few times at different properties. This place right here is DEFINITELY HAUNTED! not for the faint of heart. We were visited all night long!!! If you love the paranormal, for sure , stay here. We were in room 2 (I believe) thank you Kim! We will be back soon

Perfect rustic getaway! Beautiful wooden mountain house with a cozy, clean room and great location. Loved the relaxing yard and all-day coffee and tea. We even met friendly guests — such a warm, welcoming place. Everything was perfect!
